4.10 - Safety devices and control systems requirements

In the chapter 4.10 are described the requiremnets that safety devices and control systems must have.

"Safety related control systems shall be designed according to EN ISO 13849…"

 

Below is reported a summary table regarding the safety requirements required by the standard for some functions:

 

Safety Functions

PLr (Required Performance Level)

Interlocking of movable guards or safety devices with the hazardous movement/event

PL d if robots are present.

For all other cases, PLr shall be determined by risk assessment.

Interlocking of movable guards or means of access with the high voltage power supply

Automatic spray booths:

Interlocking and guard locking to prevent access during purge process (purge time)

Automatic spray booths:

Interlocking and guard locking to prevent access during the spray application process

Manual spray booths:

Interlocking of forced ventilation with the spray application system

Interlocking of the forced ventilation system with the spray application system
