Comme l&rsquo;indique le champ d&rsquo;application de l&rsquo;article, il couvre les moteurs, les conducteurs des circuits de d\u00e9rivation et d&rsquo;alimentation des moteurs, la protection des circuits de d\u00e9rivation et d&rsquo;alimentation des moteurs, la protection contre les surcharges des moteurs, les circuits de commande des moteurs, les contr\u00f4leurs de moteurs et les centres de commande des moteurs.<\/p>\n<p>Dans la plupart des circuits, les conducteurs sont prot\u00e9g\u00e9s contre les surintensit\u00e9s en fonction de leur intensit\u00e9 par des dispositifs de protection contre les surintensit\u00e9s tels que les fusibles et les disjoncteurs. Un circuit de d\u00e9rivation de moteur dispose de deux types de protection :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Un <strong>dispositif de protection de circuit de d\u00e9rivation (BCPD) :<\/strong> qui prot\u00e8ge contre les courts-circuits et les d\u00e9fauts de mise \u00e0 la terre.<\/li>\n<li>Une protection contre les surcharges.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>De ce point de vue, traditionnellement, les fusibles et les disjoncteurs ne sont pas install\u00e9s pour fournir une protection contre les surcharges : les dispositifs de surcharge sont g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement install\u00e9s pour prot\u00e9ger les moteurs, les appareils de commande des moteurs et les conducteurs des circuits de d\u00e9rivation des moteurs contre l&rsquo;\u00e9chauffement excessif d\u00fb aux surcharges des moteurs et aux \u00e9checs de d\u00e9marrage.<\/p>\n<p>Les fusibles et les disjoncteurs sont g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement install\u00e9s sur les circuits de moteur pour prot\u00e9ger les conducteurs du circuit de d\u00e9rivation du moteur, l&rsquo;appareil de commande du moteur et les moteurs contre les surintensit\u00e9s dues \u00e0 des courts-circuits ou \u00e0 des d\u00e9fauts de mise \u00e0 la terre. C&rsquo;est pourquoi les fusibles et les disjoncteurs install\u00e9s dans les circuits de moteur ne sont pas appel\u00e9s dispositifs de protection contre les surintensit\u00e9s ; ils sont appel\u00e9s dispositifs de protection contre les courts-circuits et les d\u00e9fauts de mise \u00e0 la terre du circuit de d\u00e9rivation du moteur. Les exigences relatives \u00e0 la protection contre les surcharges des moteurs figurent dans la partie III de l&rsquo;article 430.<\/p>\n<p>Le titre de l&rsquo;article 430.52(C) est \u00ab\u00a0Rating or Setting\u00a0\u00bb et il comporte sept sous-sections :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>(1) Conform\u00e9ment au tableau 430.52,<\/li>\n<li>(2) Tableau des relais de surcharge,<\/li>\n<li>(3) Disjoncteur \u00e0 d\u00e9clenchement instantan\u00e9,<\/li>\n<li>(4) Moteur multivitesse,<\/li>\n<li>(5) Appareils \u00e9lectroniques de puissance,<\/li>\n<li>(6) Contr\u00f4leur combin\u00e9 autoprot\u00e9g\u00e9, et<\/li>\n<li>(7) Protecteur de court-circuit du moteur.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Comme l&rsquo;indique l&rsquo;article 430.52(D), les circuits de d\u00e9rivation des moteurs de couple doivent \u00eatre prot\u00e9g\u00e9s par le courant nominal du moteur conform\u00e9ment \u00e0 l&rsquo;article 240.4(B).
