Les courants sup\u00e9rieurs \u00e0 10 mA peuvent paralyser ou \u00ab\u00a0geler\u00a0\u00bb les muscles.<\/p>\n<p>Les courants sup\u00e9rieurs \u00e0 75 mA provoquent une fibrillation ventriculaire (battements cardiaques\u00a0 rapides et inefficaces).<br \/>\nCet \u00e9tat entra\u00eene la mort en quelques minutes, \u00e0 moins qu&rsquo;un appareil sp\u00e9cial appel\u00e9 d\u00e9fibrillateur ne soit utilis\u00e9 pour sauver la victime.<br \/>\nLa paralysie cardiaque se produit \u00e0 4 amp\u00e8res, ce qui signifie que le c\u0153ur ne pompe plus du tout. Les tissus sont br\u00fbl\u00e9s avec des courants sup\u00e9rieurs \u00e0 5 amp\u00e8res.<\/p>\n<p>Chaque fois que vous travaillez avec des outils \u00e9lectriques ou sur des circuits \u00e9lectriques, il y a un risque de danger \u00e9lectrique, en particulier de choc \u00e9lectrique.<br \/>\nTout le monde peut \u00eatre expos\u00e9 \u00e0 ces risques \u00e0 la maison ou au travail.<br \/>\nLes travailleurs sont expos\u00e9s \u00e0 davantage de risques parce que les chantiers peuvent \u00eatre encombr\u00e9s d&rsquo;outils et de mat\u00e9riaux, se d\u00e9rouler \u00e0 un rythme rapide et \u00eatre expos\u00e9s aux intemp\u00e9ries.<br \/>\nLe risque est \u00e9galement plus \u00e9lev\u00e9 au travail, car de nombreux emplois font appel \u00e0 des outils \u00e9lectriques.<\/p>\n<p>Selon un fichier de recherche sur les accidents du travail mortels (Statistics Census in the USA of Fatal Occupational Injuries Research File) pour la p\u00e9riode 1992-2005, l&rsquo;\u00e9lectrocution est la cinqui\u00e8me cause de d\u00e9c\u00e8s li\u00e9s au travail pour les jeunes de 16 \u00e0 19 ans, apr\u00e8s les accidents de la route, le contact avec des objets et des \u00e9quipements, les homicides sur le lieu de travail et les chutes.
