Nous pouvons concevoir le r\u00e9servoir de mani\u00e8re \u00e0 ce qu&rsquo;il r\u00e9siste \u00e0 la pression maximale possible li\u00e9e \u00e0 tout dysfonctionnement du processus, ou nous pouvons r\u00e9aliser une boucle de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 (entr\u00e9e\/capteur de pression, logique de s\u00e9curit\u00e9, sortie\/vanne). La boucle agit en fermant la vanne en cas de pression \u00e9lev\u00e9e. Seul ce dernier cas peut \u00eatre consid\u00e9r\u00e9 comme une <strong>s\u00e9curit\u00e9 fonctionnelle.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00c9tant donn\u00e9 qu&rsquo;il n&rsquo;est pas possible d&rsquo;avoir un risque z\u00e9ro, l&rsquo;objectif de la IEC 61508 est de fournir une m\u00e9thode pour r\u00e9aliser des syst\u00e8mes de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 avec une fiabilit\u00e9 bien d\u00e9finie. Cet objectif est atteint gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 l&rsquo;\u00e9valuation d&rsquo;un risque li\u00e9 \u00e0 un \u00e9v\u00e9nement dangereux et \u00e0 sa r\u00e9duction \u00e0 un niveau consid\u00e9r\u00e9 comme socialement acceptable.<\/p>\n<p>Le risque est fonction de la gravit\u00e9 du dommage et de sa probabilit\u00e9 d&rsquo;occurrence. Pour l&rsquo;estimation du risque, on consid\u00e8re toujours la mort d&rsquo;une personne comme gravit\u00e9 du dommage et une probabilit\u00e9 d&rsquo;occurrence de 10-6\/ann\u00e9es afin d&rsquo;obtenir<strong> un risque socialement acceptable.<\/strong><br \/>\nEn d&rsquo;autres termes, chaque processus ou machine introduit un risque normalement beaucoup plus \u00e9lev\u00e9 que le niveau socialement acceptable. Ce risque doit \u00eatre r\u00e9duit par des syst\u00e8mes de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 fonctionnels dont la fiabilit\u00e9 est aussi \u00e9lev\u00e9e que le risque que le syst\u00e8me de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 va r\u00e9duire.<\/p>\n<p>Plusieurs normes sont d\u00e9riv\u00e9es de la IEC 61508. Elles contiennent des m\u00e9thodes pour concevoir des boucles de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 dont la fiabilit\u00e9 est adapt\u00e9e au niveau de danger contre lequel elles prot\u00e8gent. Deux des normes d\u00e9riv\u00e9es de l&rsquo;EN 61508 sont l&rsquo;EN 61511 pour les processus et l&rsquo;EN 62061 pour les machines.<\/p>\n<p>La norme EN 61511 concerne les syst\u00e8mes de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 en mode \u00ab\u00a0faible demande\u00a0\u00bb, ce qui signifie que le syst\u00e8me n&rsquo;agit qu&rsquo;en cas de d\u00e9faillance du processus.<\/p>\n<p>La norme EN 62061 concerne les syst\u00e8mes de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 en \u00ab\u00a0High Demand Mode\u00a0\u00bb, c&rsquo;est-\u00e0-dire que le syst\u00e8me agit \u00e0 chaque fois qu&rsquo;un dispositif de protection est activ\u00e9 pour le fonctionnement normal de la machine.
