events and which causes simultaneous failures of two or more separate channels in a multi channel system, leading to the failure of a safety related control function.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0There are several\u00a0influencing factors:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0 \u00a0 The technology used<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The architecture<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The type of application<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The environment in which the machine operates<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The CCF rate represents the frequency at which these faults occur on a channel and this is calculated as \u03b2\u2022\u03bb<sub>d<\/sub>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Standard EN 13849 establishes that the beta-factor (\u03b2) must be below 2%. It provides a series of measures to be taken to reduce \u03b2. Table F.1 lists the measures and their scores, based on engineering judgement, which represent the contribution each measure makes in the reduction of common cause failures. The aim is to achieve a minimum score of 65\/100 in order to have \u03b2\u22642%.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n            <div                        class=\"m-button-group flex flex-wrap gap-2 items-center
