Among those, important are <strong>the definitions of the different areas<\/strong> the Robot can be working.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>[ISO 10218-2: 2025] <em>3.1 Terms and definitions<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\n<em><strong>3.1.9.2 Maximum space.<\/strong> space that can be reached by the moving parts of the robot (3.1.1.2)<\/em><br \/>\n<em><strong>3.1.9.4 Restricted space.<\/strong> Portion of the maximum space (3.1.9.2) restricted by limiting devices (3.1.9.5) <\/em><br \/>\n<em><strong>3.1.9.3 Operating space.<\/strong> Portion of the restricted space (3.1.9.4) that is used while performing all motions commanded by the task program (3.1.4.1)<\/em><br \/>\n<em><strong>3.1.9.6 Safeguarded space.<\/strong> Space where safeguards (3.1.10.2) are active or where the perimeter safeguard (3.1.10.3) provides protection<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>The Maximum Space<\/strong> is the maximum area that the robot plus its workpiece can reach. It is the dangerous area generated by the robot.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Restricted Space<\/strong> is the area where the robot movements can be limited, thanks either to Software-based limiting safety function(s) or thanks to Mechanical limiting devices.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Operating Space<\/strong>\u00a0is where the Robot is programmed to work. For example it picks a piece out of a Printing press and places it on a conveyor.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, the <strong>Safeguarded Space<\/strong> is the area limited by virtual or phisical barriers (safeguards).
