font-text text-base normal mt-8 first:mt-0 space-y-4\">\n    <p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Interlocking devices shall be installed in a\u00a0<strong>suitable robust manner<\/strong> and in accordance with the instructions provided by the manufacturer.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Standard provides arrangement and fastening requirements both for position swithces and actuators.<\/p>\n<p>With the introduction of the Trapped Keys, a whole new set of definitions were added, among which the term &#8220;<strong>Access Lock<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em><strong>[EN ISO 14119:2024] 3 Terms and definitions<\/strong> <\/em><br \/>\n<em><strong>3.19.8 Access lock.<\/strong> Device intended to lock a guard in the closed position for trapped key interlocking systems, and linked to the control system via the key transfer.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>EXAMPLE: Access locks can also be used for locking in position of objects other than guards, e.g., isolators, valves or barriers.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>An example of an Access Lock is in the picture.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>6.2<\/strong> Some requirements for <strong>position switches, <\/strong>bolt locks and <strong>access locks<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Fasteners shall be reliable and loosening them shall require a tool;<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Type 1 position switches shall have provisions for permanently fixing the location after adjustement;<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">The position switch shall be located and, if necessary, protected so that damage from foreseeable external causes is avoided;<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>A position switch shall not be used as mechanical stop<\/strong>, unless this is the intended use of the position switch as declared by manufacturer.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>6.3<\/strong>\u00a0Some requirements for <strong>actuators<\/strong> are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Fasteners of the actuators shall be reliable and loosening them shall require a tool;<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">The actuator shall be located and, if necessary, protected so that failure from foreseeable external causes is avoided;<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">An actuator shall not be used as mechanical stop, unless this is the intended use of the position switch as declared by manufacturer;<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">The support and fastening for the actuators shall be sufficiently rigid to maintain correct operation of the actuator.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Standard also provides explanations regarding the attuation modalities of the interlock (direct or indirect) [5.4], the interface with the control system [5.5], the impact energy for\u00a0mechanical stops [5.6] and the additional requirements to be followed if the locking generates hazards and if the device is used for the protection of people.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>6.6<\/strong> Additional requirements deal with:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mechanical and Electromagnetic guard locking devices<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Holding force;<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Supplementary release of guard locking (escape, emergency, auxiliary);<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Fastenings.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<\/div>            <\/div>\n        \n        \n                <div class=\"clear-both\"><\/div>\n
