normal mt-8 first:mt-0 space-y-4\">\n    <p style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 8pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"margin:0cm 0cm 8pt;\">SPE stands for <strong>Special Publication Electrical<\/strong>. SPE documents <strong>are not Standards,&nbsp;but rather guidelines and model codes<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 8pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"margin:0cm 0cm 8pt;\">Currently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gt-engineering.it\/en\/technical-standards\/csa-canada-standards\/\">CSA<\/a> has five SPE documents:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 8pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"margin:0cm 0cm 8pt;\">&#8211; SPE-900-13: Best Practices for Solar Photovoltaic Rofftop Installations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"margin:0cm 0cm 8pt;\">&#8211; <strong>SPE 1000-13 Model Code for the field evaluation of electrical equipment.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"margin:0cm 0cm 8pt;\">&#8211; SPE-2000-94 Guide for Electrical Equipment for Installation and Use in Canada.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"margin:0cm 0cm 8pt;\">&#8211; SPE-3000-15 Model Code for the Field Evaluation of Medical Electrical Equipment and Systems.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"margin:0cm 0cm 8pt;\">&#8211; SPE-7001-12 Sustainability Standard for household refrigeration appliances.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"margin:0cm 0cm 8pt;\">The development of <strong>SPE 1000<\/strong> is different from&nbsp;others <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gt-engineering.it\/en\/technical-standards\/csa-canada-standards\/\">Standards developed by CSA<\/a>. SPE 1000 is <strong>not voted by a CSA Technical Commitee<\/strong>, it is however a <strong>consensus-based document,<\/strong>&nbsp;same as the other CSA documents: the final approval is given by the members of <strong>CACES (Canadian Advisory Council on Electrical Safety)<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"margin:0cm 0cm 8pt;\">It is important keep in mind that&nbsp;the <strong>Canadian Electrical (CE)&nbsp;Code must be&nbsp;used as a guide when doing field evaluations.<\/strong> Moreover,&nbsp;the adoption of the CE Code by one jurisdiction affects the whole country (Canada) since the latest edition of the Canadian Electrical Code Part 1 must be used in the whole country when adopted by one Autorithy Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) who is the first to adopt that latest&nbsp;edition of the Canadian Electrical Code Part 1. As a consequence, the Field Evaluation labels are not available for individual jurisdictions, but <strong>the label must be the same in all Canada.    <\/h4>\n        <\/div>\n                <\/div>\n        \n        \n                    <div class=\"relative w-full\">\n                \n<div class=\"a-text font-text text-base normal mt-8 first:mt-0 space-y-4\">\n    <p style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 8pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"margin:0cm 0cm 8pt;\">A field evaluation, as required&nbsp;by SPE-1000 Model Code, can be requested for an equipment that is:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"margin:0cm 0cm 8pt;\"><strong>&#8211; custom-built&nbsp;for special applications<\/strong>;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"margin:0cm 0cm 8pt;\"><strong>&#8211; manufactured on a non-repetitive basis<\/strong>;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"margin:0cm 0cm 8pt;\"><strong>&#8211; sold in quantities of not more than 500 on a national basis, per model, per year, per inspection body<\/strong>;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"margin:0cm 0cm 8pt;\">&#8211; not obtainable as &ldquo;certified&rdquo; under a regular certification program;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"margin:0cm 0cm 8pt;\">&#8211; already installed or ready for use on-site and awaiting acceptance by the AHJ.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"margin:0cm 0cm 8pt;\">A field evaluation can be requested also for complete systems or subassemblies that are all available for examination and testing during the evaluation process and for other electrical equipment as detemined by the AHJ.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"margin:0cm 0cm 8pt;\">Moreover,&nbsp;SPE-1000&nbsp;Model Code can be applied to equipment that may be evaluated <strong>at a client&rsquo;s facilities or at other specified locations, including the location of equipment installation<\/strong>. This Model Code <strong>is not intended to apply to the re-evaluation of equipment that has been rejected&nbsp;<\/strong>due to to the results of a previous evaluation conducted by a certification organization through any other existing certification service.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>            <\/div>\n        \n        \n                <div class=\"clear-both\"><\/div>\n        \n\n    <\/div>\n        <\/section>\n\n    \n\n\n\n\n    \n        <section\n            data-name=\"Contenuto testuale con immagine\"\n            class=\"bow-gte-testo-media u-spacer-base\"\n            id=\"\"\n        >\n            \n<div class=\"o-text-media px-side-spacer sm:px-side-spacer-sm lg:px-side-spacer-tablet 2xl:px-side-spacer-desktop flex flex-wrap items-start md:block\">\n\n    \n                    <div class=\"mb-6 relative w-full md:mb-4 lg:mb-8 xl:mb-9\">\n                \n        <div                class=\"m-headings\"\n            >\n    \n    \n<h4 class=\"a-heading text-primary font-heading text-2xl lg:text-3xl xl:text-4xl normal mt-2 first:mt-0\">\n                    Which devices cannot be field evaluated?    <\/h4>\n        <\/div>\n                <\/div>\n        \n        \n                    <div class=\"relative w-full\">\n                \n<div class=\"a-text font-text text-base normal mt-8 first:mt-0 space-y-4\">\n    <p style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 8pt; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"margin:0cm 0cm 8pt;\">SPE 1000-13 Model Code does not apply to the field evaluation of the following devices:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"margin:0cm 0cm 8pt;\"><strong>&#8211; Wire and cable products<\/strong>;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"margin:0cm 0cm 8pt;\">&#8211; wiring devices&nbsp;(such as receptacles and switches);<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"margin:0cm 0cm 8pt;\">&#8211; equipment for use in hazardous locations;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"margin:0cm 0cm 8pt;\">&#8211; medical electrical equipment and systems;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"margin:0cm 0cm 8pt;\">&#8211; components that will require further evaluation as part of a complete assembly, such as switches, relays, and timers;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"margin:0cm 0cm 8pt;\">&#8211; equipment connected to line voltage exceeding 46 kV;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"margin:0cm 0cm 8pt;\">&#8211; manlifts, elevators, climb assists and similar systems (other than their associated control panels);<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"margin:0cm 0cm 8pt;\">&#8211; <strong>any equipment that is not permetted to be field evaluated as directed by an AHJ<\/strong> (such as air-cleaning equipment that intentionally produces ozone).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>            <\/div>\n        \n        \n                <div class=\"clear-both\"><\/div>\n        \n\n    <\/div>\n        <\/section>\n\n    \n\n\n\n\n    \n        <section\n            data-name=\"Contenuto testuale con immagine\"\n            class=\"bow-gte-testo-media u-spacer-base\"\n            id=\"\"\n        >\n            \n<div class=\"o-text-media px-side-spacer sm:px-side-spacer-sm lg:px-side-spacer-tablet 2xl:px-side-spacer-desktop flex flex-wrap items-start md:block\">\n\n    \n                    <div class=\"mb-6 relative w-full md:mb-4 lg:mb-8 xl:mb-9\">\n                \n        <div                class=\"m-headings\"\n            >\n    \n    \n<h4 class=\"a-heading text-primary font-heading text-2xl lg:text-3xl xl:text-4xl normal mt-2 first:mt-0\">\n                    Advantages and disadvantages of field evaluation    <\/h4>\n        <\/div>\n                <\/div>\n        \n        \n                    <div class=\"relative w-full\">\n                \n<div class=\"a-text font-text text-base normal mt-8 first:mt-0 space-y-4\">\n    <p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A Field Evaluation performed according to&nbsp;SPE-1000-21 Model Code has&nbsp;the following advantages:&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"margin:0cm 0cm 8pt;\">&#8211; <\/span>High level of product scrutiny.<\/strong> Each piece of equipment is subjected to an evaluation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"margin:0cm 0cm 8pt;\">&#8211; <\/span>On the spot approval and labeling of complying products.<\/strong> Field evaluation is faster than&nbsp;full certification.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"margin:0cm 0cm 8pt;\">&#8211; <\/span>Cost effective for small numbers of equipment.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"margin:0cm 0cm 8pt;\">&#8211; <\/span><\/strong>Very useful to test the market before committing to full certification.
